Ciao! I’m Sarah Bolen. Italy is my classroom. Curiosity is my method.
The fact is, good teachers don’t teach, they invite their students into learning.
I’m a storyteller and educator who uses environment, curiosity, and narrative to turn everyday life—especially here in my home in Italy—into a living classroom. I work with children and adults who want to learn without fear, without shame, and without the pressure to be perfect. Is that you?
After several years in the public school classroom in the United States, I noticed that my students (and their parents!) had fallen out of love with learning. Most hoped for a confirmation of what they thought they already knew. But the mind is meant to be stretched! So, think of what I do as field trips for the mind for students of all ages. Through educational videos and writing, I bring the learning environment to you. Instead of lectures, I offer questions. Instead of answers, I offer space for observation. Instead of rules, I offer tools for noticing, wondering, and discussion.
My work is deeply inspired by Montessori philosophy: the idea that learning happens best when people are trusted, when mistakes are simply feedback, curiosity is honored, and when discovery is self-led. I don’t believe in spoon-feeding information. I believe in creating conditions where learning can emerge.
How? I use storytelling as my compass. Stories help us connect new ideas to our lived experience. They help us remember. They help us feel brave enough to not know yet.
Italy is not just my backdrop—it’s my co-teacher. Its streets, languages, gestures, rituals, and rhythms offer endless lessons about culture, communication, patience, identity, and belonging. I treat place as a text, and daily life as a curriculum.
Whether I’m working with a child learning to trust their voice, an adult navigating a new language, or a traveler trying to understand a culture beyond clichés, my goal is always the same: To help people fall in love with learning. To help them trust their curiosity. To help them build confidence through discovery, not performance.
You don’t have to get it right the first time here. Heck, you take as long as you need.
If you’re someone who learns by wandering, by asking, by noticing, by making connections—welcome. You’re in the right place.
